Turkey Time

Ahhh... Thanksgiving.
One of my favorite holidays. I mean, how could you not love it?
A holiday based completely on family, friends, and stuffing your face with food.
Of course, my day is completely filled with eating. I get to see my dad's side of the family for Thanksgiving lunch, followed by some very full football. Then onward to my mom's side for dinner!
Have you ever been so full at night you can't fall asleep and you have to lay on your back or you'll vomit? Every year...
'Why don't you just eat less?' You ask?
Well, I'll have to answer your question with another question: "Why bother celebrate Thanksgiving at all if you're not going to enjoy it?"

Also, as an added bonus, this year is my high schools 5-year reunion.
If you're in the same boat, be it 5-year or otherwise, here's a handy (and witty) "Surviving Your Reunion" guide.
And an excerpt to catch your interest:
"First Encounters – Your best bet is to match energy levels with whoever you talk to. Are they freaking out and hugging you? Well hug them right back and snap some cell phone camera photos. Are they nodding and asking politely how you are doing? Shake hands then excuse yourself after a few minutes or chit chat. Do this and no one will feel jilted or creeped out. If you misread their enthusiasm level and are greeted with either a look of disappointment or a look that says, “I have mace,” pretend you have to go to the men’s room."

In honor of those reckless younger years, here are a few youngsters doing their thing.
[Obviously at my reunion (which takes place at a club, has a free buffet and open bar for an hour) we'll all be completely responsible and reserved.]

And who could forget Thanksgiving day football games?
Here's one for you sports fans! (Like that awesome tie-in?)

Well, it's time for me to wrap up for now.
Hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving!

*Don't forget to thank the Native Americans for saving the Pilgrims' freezing asses!
If it weren't for them, we would have never taken over this country!

In the News Today (November 24, 2008)

Time for another update!

Hopefully, eventually this blog will grow to something bigger and more people than just me and the random wanderer will read it.
And I'm hoping this will be a good source of funny, obscure, and informative information for readers.
So let's get on to the news!

Five Convicted in Terrorism Financing Trial
Leaders of a "charitable" organization are convicted of financing terrorists.
I'm surprised, and thankful, that they got it right the second time around after the first time ended in a mistrial.

Bush Issues 14 Pardons and Commutes 2 Sentences
Some last minute pardons from President Bush.
One of the names on the list: Marion Jones, former US Track&Field star and Olympic medalist.

And now for my personal favorite....

Boy George 'chained male escort'
Oh yes! You read correctly!
But apparently this time it wasn't a "sex game"

Random CNN Articles and the Grape Lady

Just to get another post out there and to share a sampling of articles I found interesting:

Hair in book helps identify Copernicus's remain
I wasn't aware we didn't know where his body was...
Is there a reason we need to know where he was laid to rest? I'm sure Copernicus is elated they dug up his body for this though.

Obama's cell phone records breached
Why would anyone be curious enough to risk their job?
My guess for people he's called: his wife, Joe Biden, politicians, world leaders
My guess for people he hasn't called: terrorists, prostitutes, anyone interesting enough to be scandalous or worth mentioning

Grape Lady
I'm upset and surprised that I had never seen this video until yesterday.
See more of the internets best videos at CollegeHumors Web Celeb Hall of Fame.

Quite possibly one of the funniest instances of someone getting hurt.

Dutch Dominoes

Look at that! Two posts in a row!
I wasn't lying when I said I would post more frequently.

Anyway, the Dutch recently broke the world record for the most dominoes toppled at a time.
Sounds pretty boring, but take a look at this:

Ahh... the Dutch.
Only America could compete for creating a two-hour TV event surrounding something as trivial as dominoes.

I'm Back! (Finally)

After writing that introduction to my blog, I felt that was quite enough work for a while and took an extended vacation from the stresses of online journal entries.
Well, I'm back now and ready to continue!
For my first entry back, I thought I'd share a delightful video of a cute puppy with you:

No, you should not expect much more than that from me, but you can expect more frequent entries, more random videos, and more random links to things I find entertaining!
Until next time....

*edt* I'd also like to mention that that site is a constant source of awesome videos, so you should definitely check it out every few days if you can. (Or everyday if you're bored often, like me).
