Time's Top 100

Time Magazine released its annual list of the 100 most influential people.
Another thing I found almost as interesting as the selection, is the choice of the author for each profile/blurb.

Anyway, thought I'd share a few highlights/interesting picks:

Barack Obama
Leader of the free-world. Was there any doubt?

Sarah Palin
I hate to say it, but in terms of influence, it's another obvious choice.

Glenn Beck
It's hard to believe some people in this country are hoping for a Beck/Palin ticket in 2012...

------------More picks!------------

Kim Yu-Na
A bit surprising, but definitely one of the more talked about athletes from Vancouver. Aside from that snowboarder guy.
(And I may have been more excited by the fact that Michelle Kwan wrote her blurb).

Ben Stiller
Always funny and 'a pain in the ass' according to Robert De Niro.

Mir-Hossein Mousavi
Some day...

Jet Li
Another interesting choice. He has his own charity, the 'One Foundation', but don't many other actors?

Serena Williams
I just picked it because I couldn't stop laughing at the cartoon. Some of them capture the person (see Glenn Beck's above). This one... not so much.

Lady Gaga
Another 'no doubt' choice. Speaking of No Doubt, doesn't she look a little like Gwen here?

Conan O'Brien
His legs look disproportionately long here.

Oprah Winfrey
Maybe the only person in the 'Artist' category that will undoubtedly be featured again next year. Or any category for that matter.

Robert Pattinson
Oh Cedric Diggory...
Definitely read his profile though. It was very funny.

Taylor Swift
If she wasn't 5' 11", I'd totally have a shot with her.

Neil Patrick Harris
Good ol' NPH.

A huge star and still underrated.
Blurb written by Usher. What ever happened to him? I thought he was gonna be big too.

Elton John
One of the best artists of all time.

Ricky Gervais
Hilarious and doesn't care to follow the rules much (see: Golden Globes 2010)

David Boies and Thedore Olson
A liberal and conservative lawyer who fought over the Bush/Gore debacle in 2000 and are now BFFs.
And both now working to reverse California's decision on gay marriage!

I'd also like to point out the idiocy of their "Influence Index".
It's completely useless in terms of actually measuring influence.

So, how do you calculate one's Influence Index?
Formula for networking index = (Twitter followers) x 2 + (Facebook connections) divided by 2

So by Time's account, I have a higher Influence Index than Prince, Ashton Kutcher is rated higher than Oprah, and Scott Brown is just two spots below Bill Clinton.

That makes no sense at all...
[end rant]
